Blessed Friendship Bread

Today we walked to the coffee shop and split a mocha. Unfortunately I did not bring the camera with me.

While I made the guys some spaghetti I was not yet hungry so I had an apple and some tea. A friend also brought us some Amish Friendship Bread to try - YUM.

Later on I had a PB&J and a banana for lunch. It has been a real treat to have this around, I really enjoy PB&Js. <3

Dinner was super delicious! I made us protein-packed salads inspired by one on this blog. Ours were a little different though. Instead we used Romaine lettuce, Tri-colored Quinoa cooked in vegetable broth, Feta Cheese, Chicken, Sunflower seeds, and just a few craisins. We really enjoyed it and I think we'll do something like it again.

Dessert included another round of the Friendship Bread and some white tea. So good. I was also given a batch of starter, so I will be able to make more in another week! Fortunately for my friends it will be just in time for a gathering I am planning. <3

Yesterday I was so busy that I did not get the photos up in time. Here is what I had yesterday, sans the nutritional info. All in all it wasn't a terrible day, and it was certainly delicious.

Lunch: Grilled Garlic Polenta with Marinara

Snack: Banana and Peanut Butter

Dinner: Steamed Gyoza and Greens
Dessert: Peanut Butter & Raspberry Jam Sandwich

Cheesy Delightfulness

Today began with another Mocha. Oh, how I do so love the mocha. Dairy, Coffee, Chocolate, Sugar. All of the lovely stuff and it fills me up.

Lunch consisted of a HUGE piece of the lasagna. I probably could have stretched this over two meals but felt rather greedy and ate it instead. This had spinach, homemade sauce (it was pretty good), turkey sausage, a little bit of cottage cheese, and skim mozzarella. I guess it wasn't terrible, but after getting used to smaller meals this felt extravagant.

Leftover from the wonton wrappers was some dough. My partner had the brilliant idea to pan fry it and add some cinnamon & sugar. Delicious, and calorically regrettable (but not that bad). The photo is of a plateful, sans a few my boyfriend snatched. I ate a couple and then we offered the rest to a friend.

I was able to go to the grocery store today and we also had two friends over for dinner. Because I was tired (another work-out day!) we had a simple dinner of corn chips, beans, cheese, tomatoes, and jalapenos. It sounds like a reasonable meal until I confess to eating two heaping platefuls. I only took a picture of the second, more modest plate. We also had some cola with the meal - I abstained from the white rum addition.

I feel pretty full from dinner, so no dessert this evening. Even with all of the extra food and whatnot, it seems like today wasn't so bad. I do always wonder how accurate this calorie-countng is, but at least I am getting an idea of what's going in. :)

Back to the Grindstone - so to speak.

After a week without diligence I am (hopefully) back in business.

For breakfast I began with another homemade mocha. 1/2 Coffee, 1/2 2% Milk, sugar and cocoa. Always a hit.

For a mini lunch I had a bit of what I made for the boys: cabbage stir-fry with a bit of rice. All in all I think there was about a cup of food? It helped me through a few hours.

I also had a cup of tea shortly after that mini meal.

My next small meal was a corn tortilla with a small bit of cheese and two egg whites. I also had a small apple, sliced.

Around 6pm I worked out with a friend - section 2 of the 30-Day shred. It was good times. Unfortunately I was so hungry afterwards that I forgot to take a photo of my meal! It was some lasagna I made the night before.

I spent this evening making gyoza. Between making all of them I had a few chocolate chips - all in all 1/4c.

The final tallies are a bit rough. The mocha is not completely accurate, but it is pretty close. I am surprised that these numbers are so low, but I guess I did eat less today. Worked my butt off too. Tomorrow it will be nice to have some good grub. Maybe I will even make breakfast.

And now it is time for bed. I got up well today and had a great, effective day. The kitchen is clean so I don't have to do dishes in the morning, meaning I can work until lunch time. It will also be shopping day, so we get some new groceries. Fa~ntastic!

4-Year Anniversary

What a lovely day! Today was filled with some yummy treats. I ended up eating only twice, but I ate more than enough calorie and fat-wise to make up for it. Oi - I think I am done with heavy foods for quite a while (I am a fresh veggie and fruit kinda girl).

I started making lunch for the boys when my boyfriend got back from a meeting and surprised me with a Mocha from my favorite shop in town.

I had that pretty late and was busy for most of the day, so we ate an early dinner. We made spicy Italian sausages with peppers and onions. We had them on top of homemade sourdough rolls I prepared earlier. Delicious, but I could barely finish what you see here! We also treated ourselves to some Coca-Cola for a drink - something we don't usually do.
Dinner: Cal 975 Fat 56 Carbs 82 Pro 33.6 Fibe 1.3

For dessert we each got to pick out a pint of ice cream. I saw that Ben & Jerry's makes an Oatmeal Cookie dough, and idea I had a long time ago. Naturally I had to try it.

I ate about half of it before throwing in the towel. After all of the sugar, fat and salt I am starving for some water. It was super nice to have the things we don't get very often but I am looking forward to returning to normalcy. Time to make a trip to the store for some vegetables (and toilet paper - yikes!)

Wrong Side of the Bed

Woke up with a big headache and funny attitude this morning. Oh well.

Breakfast started out with a mocha - due to headache I forgot to take a photo. Looking back at the meals I've had I realize what a dairy kid I am. Goodness. Hot cocoa is my weakness.

Lunch was potato & meat hash with a poached egg. It was pretty good, even if carby and full of all sorts of fat. It was a good meal though because it used up some leftovers and everyone was full from it. It was also the first time I tried to poach an egg without assistance. They turned out well, even if a bit deformed. :)

For a snack later I had 1/2 a cup of tea (didn't ever finish it) and a bowl of corn flakes with a banana.
Snack: Cal 252 Fat 2.7 Carbs 53.4 Pro 7 Fibe 3.9

Dinner was really really good. A few weeks ago I made my own version of stuffed cabbage leaves with sausage and all sorts of herbs and veggies. I remade the filling tonight and used TVP in place of sausage to great success. It also wasn't that bad calorie-wise.
Dinner: Cal 236.4 Fat 4.2 Carbs 41.2 Pro 7.9 Fibe 3.7

We had a few people over so I made monkey bread. For splitting the whole recipe 4 ways I was surprised at how few calories it was, and even more surprised about the fat content! Going and buying a treat elsewhere would have been much worse and less satisfying.

Not so bad today, all said and done. Fiber is still dreadfully low, but the day was still surprisingly low in fat. Protein not so bad, carbohydrates could be better. :)

The day ended much better than it began, especially once my headache went away. Must have been that awesome dinner - something I hope to post to my other blog. Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day for tracking food. It is my 4-year anniversary with my boyfriend. We're cooking in and dinner is a pint each of B&J's. Maybe I'll be good and ration it. We'll see. :)

A Fresh Start

This past weekend was a lot of fun but on Sunday my camera battery died despite being freshly charged! Between that and guests I ended up not keeping track of my meals, but that is alright. Suffice it to say I was full of Chinese food and sucking up water because of it.

After not sleeping so well last night I decided that a fresh start was needed. For breakfast I had a large cup of tea and a banana.
Banana + Tea: Cal 122 Fat 0.7 Carbs 32.5 Pro 1.3 Fibe 3.1

Rather than having lunch when everyone else did, shortly after my tea and banana, I chose to have a snack instead. This time I had a slice of Seedy Character Bread with 1/2 tsp. butter spread on top. Alas, no photo.

For a late lunch I had some egg salad, a slice of bread, and some sliced apples. I've never really cared for egg salad but I thought today might be time for a second chance. It's still not a winner for me, but I am glad to have tried it out anyway.

Between lunch and dinner I had a 1/4 c of craisins. Mmmm.
Craisins: Cal 107 Fat 0.4 Carbs 28.7 Pro 0.1 Fibe 2.9

Dinner happened later in the day again - around 8. We had smoked chicken and broiled potatoes, and I also had a cup of frozen peas (not shown). I wasn't too hungry despite this delicious chicken (and it WAS). I think I had part of a small chicken breast and maybe 1/3 c of potatoes.

Because I did not have very much for dinner I more than made up for it in hot cocoa. I love hot chocolate from scratch and made a big mug of it to end the evening on. <3

Over all today wasn't so bad. I probably could have gone lighter on the hot chocolate, but oh well. I did well in protein and fat, hopefully there will be some improvement in fiber and carbs. :)
